Ordering Information
My book, Lessons from the Dead,
contains 60 poems and essays covering 215 pages, 73,000 words
of text, along with 14 black and white illustrations. It is
commercially printed and bound into a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 x 1/2 inch,
soft cover volume. The title comes from its featured poem about
a lone boy playing in a deserted city cemetery, and what he
learned from the silent stones
residing there. Subtitled “Poems for Prose Addicted People”,
each poem is followed by an essay explaining its origins and
poetic devices. It is further subtitled “God’s Hand
in Our World” because poems deal with spiritual insights,
miracles I have observed in life, and reasons to maintain a
spiritual outlook in the midst of our misguided materialistic
world.
The cover is an unusual Art Deco design that
combines illustrations from eight of my poems into a unique
collage that echoes underlying themes of the book. It visually
demonstrates the diversity of poems contained in the volume
which range from memorials and love poems, to war and science
insights, and even extends to comic verse and metaphysical meanderings.
Another featured work is a heroic ode to the soldiers who fought
in the D-Day invasion. The back cover has a synopsis of the
book’s main themes along with a biography of the author.
