Lessons from the Dead
Here
is a book of poems for prose addicted people: those who don’t
like poetry or who have trouble understanding it. Our daily
reading uses skills much different than those needed for appreciating
poetry. This book helps you overcome this problem and read poems
more effectively with essays after each describing their meaning
and the poetic methods used in them. Illustrations or picture
poems are also given to further help you sense the meaning of
each work in a visual as well as aural way, and to add a multidimensional
character to the book. These aids show you how to get the most
from my poems, as well as from life itself!
My new book also shows you how to begin writing
poems for your own enjoyment and to save your experiences to
help others persevere over life’s rough spots. I describe
my journey into the realm of poetry after a life time of trying
to write novels and short stories, and the inspiration which
led me there. I show how poetry produces many unexpected rewards
for the reader, but even more for the writer himself. Here is
a book to help you see life in an inspiring new light as well
as appreciate the subtle nuances of this unique word art.
Another goal of my book is to put life in a
more positive perspective. Our world is filled with so much
suffering that we often overlook the good things that happen
to us. My poems and essays concentrate on these more uplifting
aspects of life, and suggest we view our lucky breaks as miracles
from a providing God to help us through the trials which constantly
beset us. This deepens the meaning of our good fortune and helps
us accept life’s problems more patiently. By recounting
my trials and the unexpected help I received, I try to show
how God in His goodness cares for us all in just the same way.
